Preview Weekend
During November, Trinity College is sponsoring PREVIEW WEEKEND, an overnight program designed to give seniors in high school an opportunity to explore both the academic and social aspects of the Trinity community, with a focus on the experiences of our students of color. Visiting students enjoy observing classes, meeting faculty and students, attending campus events, and interviewing with a member of our staff at one of the nation’s most prestigious liberal arts colleges.
If selected to attend Preview Weekend, financial assistance for transportation, housing, and meals will be available.
Application details will be posted in early September. Please call the Admissions Office at (860) 297-2180 if you have any questions. Our office hours are 8:00 a.m. to 4:15 p.m., Monday through Friday.
Pitzer College Diversity Weekend

Our Commitment
As part of our commitment to diversity and intercultural understanding, Pitzer College hosts a fall diversity preview program in early November and a spring diversity program for accepted students in April. This program is designed specifically for students from underrepresented racial, cultural, and socioeconomic backgrounds from across the continental United States.

The program will give you an opportunity to experience the distinct atmosphere that sets Pitzer College apart from other colleges while interacting with current students, faculty, staff and other high school seniors considering Pitzer.
Program
The Diversity Program is an all-inclusive, all-expense-paid program for which round-trip transportation (air, train, bus, gas/mileage reimbursement) will be covered. Attendees will be hosted by current students in the residence halls and will dine on campus throughout the three-day weekend.

Pitzer College
University of Minnesota Diversity Weekend

Diversity Weekend is designed for individuals who are historically underrepresented in psychology graduate programs and who are interested in learning about graduate education in the Department of Psychology at the University of Minnesota. This program will feature a coordinated set of formal and informal experiences designed to familiarize participants with strategies for constructing successful graduate school applications, and to provide them with the opportunity to learn more about the experience of graduate education in our department.
Individuals eligible to apply must:
- be enrolled in a college or university as a junior or senior, or who have graduated within the last two years (i.e., 2014 or thereafter). Individuals currently enrolled in a terminal masters-level graduate program in psychology are also eligible.
- identify as a member of groups historically underrepresented in graduate training in psychology, including individuals from diverse ethnic and racial backgrounds, and participants who are first-generation college students or graduates.
- be committed to pursuing doctoral training in psychology in one of our programs of research: Clinical Science and Psychopathology; Counseling Psychology; Cognitive and Brain Sciences; Industrial/Organizational Psychology; Personality, Individual Differences, and Behavior Genetics; Quantitative Psychology/Psychometric Methods; or Social Psychology.
The costs of transportation and lodging will be covered for applicants selected to participate in this program. Applicants must provide the following information and materials:
- completed online application form
- copy of undergraduate transcript (an unofficial copy will suffice)
personal statement of interest

‘Discover Swarthmore’ College Weekend

Discover Swarthmore! Swarthmore College’s all-expenses paid* overnight weekend program for Asian, Black, Latino/a, and Native American high school seniors, is scheduled for September 28th to September 30th . Prospective students will get a first-hand look at Swarthmore as they attend classes, stay with current students in the dorms, eat in the dining hall, and enjoy a candid view of campus life. Prospective students will also hear from faculty, staff, alumni, and current Swarthmore students through a series of panel discussions.
*The Admissions Office will cover all transportation, meal, and on-campus housing expenses for students invited to attend the program.
Discover Swarthmore! offers high school seniors the opportunity to interact with the entire Swarthmore College community, including current students, faculty, staff, and Swarthmore alumni.
Last year, the following student groups hosted events during Discover Swarthmore! weekend:
Achieving Black and Latino Leaders of Excellence (ABLLE), Buddhist Community of Swarthmore, Catholic Newman Community, Colors (Queer Students of Color), Deshi (South Asian Organization), Enlace (Latino/a Student Organization), Friends of Taiwan, Hillil (Jewish Student Organizations), i20 (International Students Organization), Muslim Students Association, OASIS (Spoken Word Poetry Collective), Quest Scholars, Rhythm n’ Motion/RnM (Tri-College dance company), Students of Carribean Ancestry (SOCA), Swarthmore African-American Student Society (SASS), Swarthmore Asian Organization, Swarthmore Chinese Society, Swarthmore Christian Fellowship, Swarthmore Democrats, Swarthmore Frack Action, Swarthmore Labor Action Project, Swarthmore Protestant Community, Swarthmore Queer Union, Swarthmore Womyn of Color Collective (SWoCC), Women’s Resource Center, and just a few of Swarthmore’s A Cappella groups (Grapevine, Sixteen Feet, Essence of Soul, and Mixed Company).
In addition to the Admissions staff, Discover Swarthmore! participants will also meet the Deans and students involved with the Intercultural Center (IC) and the Black Cultural Center (BCC) as well as the Dean’s Office, the Pre-Law & Pre-Med advisor, and the Career Services office.

Mount Holyoke College Diversity Weekend

Is diversity important to you? Are you interested in joining a strong, cohesive, diverse college community at one of the nation’s finest liberal arts institutions? Want to know more about the many dimensions of diversity at Mount Holyoke College? As a national leader in addressing issues of race, class, and gender identity, Mount Holyoke invites you to Focus on Diversity.
During this overnight program high school juniors and seniors will be able to participate in activities designed to explore many aspects of pluralism. Program events include a panel discussion, identity workshop, and an evening cultural performance. You will also take a campus tour and have the opportunity to stay overnight in a residence hall with a current Mount Holyoke student who you will shadow on Monday.

‘Perspectives on Pomona’ Diversity Weekend

The Perspectives on Pomona (POP!) fall fly-in program welcomes students from diverse backgrounds who are traditionally underrepresented in higher education to experience the Pomona College campus.
During POP prospective students will have the opportunity to meet current students, speak with faculty and explore the Pomona College community. Although space is limited due to the small size of our engaged community, we are dedicated to providing this opportunity to those whom the program will most benefit.
All POP participants are provided with on-campus housing, meals and shuttle transportation between local airports and Pomona College. Limited travel grants are available to cover airfare expenses.
The application deadline is in August. Applications will be available in Summer. Register here, and we will send an email when the application is ready.
Grinnell College Diversity Weekend

The Grinnell Diversity Preview Program offers you the chance to apply for a FREE trip to campus so you can discover your place at one the nation’s top liberal arts colleges. The 2013 Diversity Preview Program will be held from October 6-8.

Program participants will:
- Stay overnight with a current student host
- Go on a tour of the Grinnell campus
- Attend classes
- Have an admission interview
- Attend an information session on admission and financial aid
- Meet campus leaders
- Have lunch with professors and admission staff
Application requirements:
- Applicants must be high school seniors
- Student of color (African American, Latino, Asian, Native American) OR first in family to attend college
- Interest in liberal arts education (arts and humanities, mathematics and sciences, social sciences)

Miami University Diversity Weekend

Bridges
Miami University is proud to present the Bridges program. This experience is designed for high-achieving diverse high school seniors from all over the nation who are interested in learning more about the educational opportunities at Miami. This is an all-expense paid (meals, lodging, entertainment, etc.) overnight program on Miami’s beautiful campus in Oxford, Ohio.
Transportation is provided for each session from the locations specified below:

Students who successfully complete the program, are accepted for Fall 2014 admission, and enroll at Miami University’s Oxford campus will receive a $10,000 scholarship awarded only to Bridges students.

- Minimum of 3.0 grade point average on a 4.0 scale or top 25% of graduating class
- College prep curriculum
- Demonstrated leadership/co-curricular involvement

Middlebury College Diversity Weekend

Middlebury College invites you to visit our campus during our annual multicultural open house, Discover Middlebury, to be held in October. We are looking for students who are intellectually motivated and would like to explore the pursuit of higher education at a small liberal arts and sciences college.
The visit is open to seniors from traditionally under-represented groups: African American, Hispanic/Latino, Asian American, and American Indian students; students (regardless of ethnicity) with demonstrated financial hardship; and students who are first in their families to pursue a four-year college education. Unfortunately, international students or those living outside of the country cannot participate in this program.
Because Discover Middlebury is a popular program, we unfortunately cannot accommodate all applicants. There is a selective application process to fill the approximately 75 spaces available, with priority given to strong students who might not otherwise have a chance to visit campus. Meals and lodging will be provided free of charge by Middlebury College for all participants, and transportation will also be provided for students who will be financial aid applicants. Modes of transportation will vary depending on where a student is traveling from and may be by plane, train or bus.

(Coming in July) Students are responsible for completing the application which can be accessed via the link on the right, including unofficial copies of your high school transcript, your standardized test scores, and a brief statement to the Admissions Office.

Oberlin College Diversity Weekend

Who is Eligible?
To apply, you must be a high school senior of color (African American, Asian/Pacific American, Latino/a, Native American). You must also be interested in a liberal arts education (Arts & Humanities, Math & Sciences, Social & Behavioral Sciences). Lastly, the program is only open to US Citizens and Permanent Residents.
Application Outline
The application consists of multiple parts outlined below. We must receive all parts by the applicable deadline:
- Application Form with short answer question. This section may be completed using the online application*, or you may mail or fax us the paper application. *There is a short answer required for the application. Be prepared to answer the following in 500 words or less: Since 1835 Oberlin has been a leader in diversity, becoming the first school in the nation to admit African Americans and adopting a policy to admit students regardless of race or gender. Knowing this, what do you feel you can contribute to Oberlin’s community and commitment to diversity?
- Completed and signed Counselor Form
- High School Transcript (unofficial copies are acceptable)
- SAT or ACT Scores
- Statement of Financial Responsibility
Review of applications will be holistic and decisions will be made up to two weeks prior to the program date. Acceptance to a program is very competitive as there are a limited number of spots available for each weekend.
