HBCU Week X NFL Scholarship
January 8, 2025Requirements
Complete and submit application by February 17th
Provide most recent, verifiable high school transcript (Subject to authentication)
Provide proof of acceptance at an Historically Black College or University (HBCU)*
Acceptance letters can be submitted through 4/11/25. All other application materials must be submitted by 2/17/25.
Applicants must:
- Be a citizen or legal permanent resident of the United States
- Complete or have completed high school with a minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale (unweighted) and be entering their freshman year of college
- Attend a Historically Black College or University (HBCU) for the entirety of their college education.
- Demonstrate financial need
The scholarship can be used for tuition, room and board. A student may accept additional scholarships but they cannot exceed the total cost of their education.

Splunk HBCU Academic Scholarship
January 8, 2025About the Scholarship
The Splunk HBCU Academic Scholarship is proud to support students in their academic journey by recognizing their academic pursuits, community contributions, and their passion for technology. All students who are enrolled in and attending an accredited HBCU, and are pursuing a technology-related degree, are encouraged to apply.
Splunk will grant 15 students a one-time, $10,000 Scholarship award intended for use towards academic expenses. In addition, Scholarship recipients will receive exclusive Splunk mentorship and an opportunity to interview for a Splunk internship or early career role.
Please Note: A Splunk internship or full-time employment offer is not guaranteed.
This year, the Scholarship continues its dedication to honoring exceptional students based on their:
- Academic achievements and ambitions,
- Innovation demonstrated through technology, and/or
- Distinctive leadership contributions
NFBPA Scholarship Program
January 8, 2025In 2025, the National Forum for Black Public Administrators (NFBPA) will continue its prestigious Scholarship Program. This initiative seeks to honor exceptional scholarship and leadership among African American and minority students currently pursuing full-time education at accredited, traditional four-year colleges or universities, with a preference for those attending Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs), particularly those engaged in public service.
NFBPA provides several scholarships to undergraduate and graduate students through its partnerships with corporate supporters, public sector organizations, and individual contributors.
The Scholarship Program is an integral part of NFBPA’s goal of lending support to African American and other minority students interested in leadership roles in public service. Applicants may apply for multiple scholarships or other NFBPA financial awards. If selected, the applicant can receive only one award.

Institute on Neuroscience (ION) Summer Research Program
January 24, 2018Application
ION seeks applications from highly motivated high school students who have taken at least one college-level science course (e.g., AP Biology, Honors Chemistry, etc.). After participating in an introductory neuroscience course, ION Scholars are matched with mentors by interest to conduct a seven-week mentored laboratory research project. Weekly professional development workshops focus on topics such as scientific communication, the ethical conduct of research and special topics in neuroscience. At the conclusion of the program, students present their laboratory research results at the ION Research Symposium to an audience of peers, family, friends, teachers and community members.
Program Benefits
• The internship program provides comprehensive preparation for the pursuit of undergraduate science majors.
• Student Scholars usually finish the program excited about neuroscience, with an interest in exploring neuroscience-related academic and professional careers.
• Student Scholars are hired and paid taxable hourly wages (through their matched institution) for their full-time commitment of 40 hr/wk during the eight-week program.
Eligibility Criteria
• Preference for high school students currently enrolled in their junior or senior year (must be 16 years old by June 4th).
• Grade point average of at least a 3.0 or the equivalent (B average).
• Advanced Placement (or other college level) science courses recommended.
• Able to commit full-time (40 hr/wk) to the entire 8-week program (cannot hold other employment or attend other camps during ION).
• Scholars must arrange in advance local Atlanta housing and transportation, and are responsible for their meals throughout the summer program.
Application Process
• All application materials must be received no later than midnight of the posted deadline (2022 date tbd)

• Applications will be reviewed, a subset of applicants will be invited to interview at Georgia State University in mid-March, and final decisions regarding acceptance will be made and applicants notified in early April.
• Immunization records, current TB test results, drug test results, and tax documents will be required for all ACCEPTED Scholars.
Note: Due to funding changes, ION will be on hold until earliest Summer 2022 while we focus our energies on The Neuroscience School (summer short courses for high school students at GSU) and securing new funding for future summers of ION.

STEP-UP (Short-Term Research Experience for Underrepresented Persons

Eligibility Requirements for High School & Undergraduate Students
NIH encourages institutions to increase diversity in their student and faculty populations. To promote diversity and equity for students, and access to science, STEP-UP strives to increase research and educational opportunities for individuals regardless of economic background or zip code.
When applying to STEP-UP, applicants must meet all of the general and academic requirements at time of application submission, and one or more of the diversity and equity requirements.
General Requirements
- Be a U.S. Citizen, non-citizen national, or legal permanent resident
- Be 16 years of age or older
- Give proof of personal medical/health insurance coverage throughout the duration of the program. Exceptions will be made for students residing in the following U.S. territories: Marshall Island, American Samoa, Federated States of Micronesia, Saipan, and Guam.
- Commit to completing the program
Academic Requirements
- Be enrolled in a high school or an accredited U.S. college or university, or plan to be enrolled in the fall
- High school students should be in their junior or senior year of high school during the application period
- Undergraduate students should currently be enrolled as a full-time student at a U.S. accredited two-year or four-year college or university. Graduating college seniors are not eligible for the program.

Davidson Fellows Scholarship

Application Submission & Deadline
The 2025 application is now available, with big changes for this year! We are increasing scholarship amounts to $100,000, $50,000, and $25,000!
- The application process has two parts! The initial portion asks for a brief description of the project/portfolio to ensure eligibility. The second part of the application is where you input your nominators’ information and send them their forms, as well as submit all the category requirements.
- Please submit the initial portion of the application as soon as possible. (The sooner you submit the initial portion, the sooner your application can be approved, giving you and your nominators more time to complete nominating forms and application requirements.)
- Once the initial portion of your application has been submitted, it will be held for review (1-2 business days).
- When the initial portion of your application is approved, you will receive an email notification alerting you that you can continue with your application.
- In part two of the application, you will input your nominator’s information and send them their nominating forms.
- Carefully read the SAMPLE Nominating Form (PDF) so you can choose the best nominators to support your submission.
- Additionally in part two, you will input a parent’s information and send them their parent approval form(s). NOTE: only one parent approval form is required. If it is a team submission, one parent form is required per team member.
- In part two of the application, you will input your nominator’s information and send them their nominating forms.
- Students can apply with one project only
- All intellectual property contained within the application remains that of the applicant. Application contents are only shared with Davidson Fellows staff and judges. Davidson Fellows judges sign confidentiality agreements. No application material is ever published on the Davidson Fellows website. Biographical and project information posted to the Davidson Fellows website has been written and provided by the winners themselves.

USDA/1890 National Scholars Program

Applications for the 2025 school year will be accepted from January 7, 2025 through March 1, 2025.
The USDA 1890 National Scholars Program is aimed at bolstering educational and career opportunities for students from rural or underserved communities around the country. It was established in 1992 as part of the partnership between USDA and the 1890 land-grant universities.
USDA’s Office of Partnerships and Public Engagement (OPPE) manages the 1890 National Scholars Program, which is aimed at increasing the number of students from rural and underserved communities who study food, agriculture, natural resource and other related sciences. The scholarship provides recipients with full tuition, fees, books, room and board. Scholars attend one of the 1890 land-grant universities and pursue degrees in agriculture, food, natural resource sciences, or related academic disciplines. The scholarship may also include work experience at USDA. The program is a crucial part of USDA’s Next Generation efforts.
USDA awarded 94 1890 scholarships in Fiscal Year 2024.

The Award
The scholarship may be renewed each year, contingent upon satisfactory academic performance and normal progress toward a bachelor’s degree.
General Eligibility
To be eligible for the USDA/1890 National Scholars Program scholarship, a student must:
- Be a U.S. citizen
- Have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better (on a 4.0 scale)
- Have a minimum of 21 ACT, 1080 SAT scores
- Have been accepted for admission or currently attending one of the nineteen 1890 Land-Grant Universities.
- Study agriculture, food, natural resource sciences, or other related academic disciplines
- Demonstrate leadership and community service
- Submit an official transcript, from each high school and college attended, with the school seal and an authorized official’s signature
- Submit a 250-500 word essay for each of the following questions:
- How will the USDA 1890 National Scholarship support your career aspirations? If there is a particular mission area within USDA that also supports your career aspirations, please indicate that mission area.
- What factors have influenced your decision to pursue academic studies in agriculture, food, natural resource sciences, or a supporting discipline (such as economics, computer science, accounting, etc.)?

The USDA 1890 National Scholars Program is open to high school seniors entering their freshman year of college, and rising college sophomores and juniors.

National Hook-Up of Black Women Scholarship

NHBW, Inc. works to improve the quality of life, facilitate preservation, achieve self-empowerment, and promote economic development. Membership reflects a diversity of women from varied business, professional and community disciplines crossing all economic, social, and educational levels.
Silver Cross Healthy Community Commission (SCHCC) Scholarship Program
Since 2008, the Silver Cross Healthy Community Commission Scholarship Program has supplied over 2.15 million dollars in scholarships and grants to create a stronger, healthier future for the residents of the eastside of Joliet. (Only students who live in zip codes: 60432, 60433, 60436, and Lockport Grade School District #89 60441 are eligible for this SCHCC Scholarship).
Senior High School Eligibility Requirements
- Applicants must be a college-bound high school senior at the time of applying for the application.
- Applicants must be enrolled as a full-time student in a two- or four-year accredited program, college, or university by the Fall of 2025.
- Applicants must be in good academic standing with a GPA of 2.5 or higher.
- Applicants agrees to use the scholarship funds only for educational expenses.
- Only students who live in zip codes: 60432, 60433, 60436, and Lockport Grade School District #89 60441 are eligible for this SCHCC Scholarship.
- Only students who are residents of WILL COUNTY are eligible for the NHBW Scholarship.
- Students may only apply for one of these scholarships: SCHCC or NHBW
Senior High School Application Process (Deadline: Monday, March 17, 2025)
- Applicants must complete all sections of the application (this includes the three-hundred-word essay).
- Include a separate SEALED OFFICIAL TRANSCRIPT from the high school with the application.
- Include a color photo of yourself with the application (with name on back).
- One letter of recommendation is required from a high school official or one from a community leader.
- Include a typed 300-word essay explaining your career goal and how this scholarship will impact your post-secondary plans.
