Description
Developing a personal growth strategy (personality, temperament, multiple intelligences, grit, and mindset): Becoming a good student, demonstrating positive behavior, and avoiding conflict is a learned process. Researched-based insight into each student’s personality type, temperament, learning style, mindset, and grit helps to identify the appropriate study skills, learning strategies, and social behaviors for avoiding and resolving conflict. Developed for students in grades K-12, community college, college, graduate school, and for adults returning to school. The following steps will be adjusted based on the student’s grade level. (1) Students are provided with a copy of the Who I Am series (4 books). The student is assigned reading and narrative writing assignments from each book to be completed between sessions.
(2) Meeting 1: Discussion with students and parents regarding the desired outcomes for the student, during which we provide an overview of the books, assigned reading, and what we hope to learn through the narrative writing of the student. We clarify expectations for the student and parents for the student to achieve maximum benefits of the sessions. We assign reading from Who I Am: Vol I – My Learning Style Plan.
(3) Meeting 2: We review and discuss the completed assignments and narrative writing. We assign reading from Who I Am: Vol II – Personality, Temperament, Mindset, and Grit – How to Avoid and Resolve Conflict.
(4) Meeting 3: We review and discuss the completed assignments and narrative writing. We assign reading from Who I Am: Vol III – My Time Management & Study Skills Plan.
(5) Meeting 4: We review and discuss the completed assignments and narrative writing. We assign reading from Who I Am: Vol IV – My Goals.
(6) Meeting 5: We review and discuss the completed assignments and narrative writing. During this meeting, the student presents their action plan via a slide presentation to their parents.
